My Weight Loss Journey with Start Fresh: Week 4 and a Giveaway!

So I’ve just finished my 3rd full week of my Weight Loss Journey with Start Fresh and I am feeling really good!

Scroll to the end of the post for a double giveaway!

-love all,trust a few,do wrong to none.- (3)

That’s right! I lost another 2 pounds, for a total weight loss of 9 pounds. This isn’t about dropping 15 pounds in 15 days, or some other fad-diet, easy-off, easy-on, kind of diet. It’s a sustainable, balanced plan that allows me to lose weight in a slow but steady manner. (Winning the race and all that…)

On thursday night, I baked a cake. Nothing too extraordinary for me, right? But it was a new recipe (stay tuned!) which means I had to taste it. I can’t publish a recipe without knowing if it’s good or not. In the past, this is the exact point where I would have gotten thrown off from my diet. That bite of deliciousness would totally make me want more. And more. And pretty soon I would be starting day one of my diet. Again. But this time it was different. I have a structure, a plan. I knew I could eat that one bite of cake (it was delicious and tempting!) and then stop! I didn’t need more. I wanted more, but didn’t need it. That was a big deal for me, and I am so proud to have triumphed in that situation!

Food wise, I started to cook and enjoy interesting foods more, and that is making my diet that much easier. I definitely find that having some food prepared…just in case, makes it so much easier. If I come home from work starving and tired, I don’t get tempted to eat everything in sight if I have some delicious and healthy food prepared in the fridge.

Some delicious foods I ate this week…I’ve still been obsessed with my spicy carrot chips. I made a batch of the most delicious green beans this week, totally delicious. I made barbecue chicken burgers this week, and they were seriously delicious! I will definitely be making them again to post the recipe here on the blog. I made a delicious side dish by sauteing onions and mushrooms, then adding cooked wild rice to the mixture. It’s my favorite way of making rice! This week I get to add whole wheat bread and some other whole grain carbs to my menu, so we’ll see what I come up with…stay tuned!

I love the idea of not snacking after supper time,a nice soothing flavorful tea usually dose the trick.i liked the page on Facebook and follow pintrest.

I hate to sound cheesy…but reading about other peoples achievements really inspire me!!

I just started following your blog, and I’m hooked! I had to quickly check again before I went to sleep (I’m checking from Israel) to see if you’d post your Sunday diet report and it happy I did!

Really happy for you! And impressed! And very intrigued about Start Fresh… Seems to be a great program!! Good luck on it!

When you think you are hungry, have some water or tea, then wait about 15 minutes. Very often we interpret thirst as hunger.

Liked and Followed both Tales of an overtime cook and Start Fresh!! Start your day off with an apple to boost your metabolism!

  5. Debbie says

If you mess up and go on a binge, just start fresh the next morning- don’t let it become a week or month long food fest!!

I liked you both on Facebook :)

I find it challenging to keep track of my daily water intake- which is zero if i dont track… so i make sure to have a cup when waking up. Before and after each meal. And one right before bed.

When the 4:00pm munchies come around… have a cup of sugar free hot chocolate. The hot drink makes you feel full (unless you dont mind having coffee so late in the day) but hot chocolate is a special diet treat that i usually dont indulge in on a regular basis…

  8. RE says

My trick to staying on track is to brush my teeth as soon as I’m done w a meal. Its so much easier to refill or eat more that way. With a clean minty taste in your mouth you get to “think” before the impulse kicks in!
Marcia I love you! you have taught me soo many tricks years ago when I joined the weekly weigh ins. I hope I win, I can use your services again!

  9. Chaya says

eat grapefruit before every meal :) or a drink of grapefruit juice – this has been proven scientifically, believe it or not

  10. chaya says

If you eat while you’re doing something else you don’t feel full. Focus on your food so that you feel satisfied and won’t want more.

  11. Shoshana says

Drink water. Then drink some more water. When you think you can’t get one more cup of water down, drink water. If you’re hungry and it’s not meal time, drink water.

I recently lost 40lb and I honestly believe my drinking so much water is what helped me the most

    Good luck to you!!

I think everything in moderation is ok bc depriving yourself too much backfires. (At least for me). I follow and liked both on Facebook.

  13. Aliza Garofalo says

My tip is to brush my teeth after dinner – so I won’t want to eat after that!
Following both on Piniterest and also liked both on Facebook

You know when you’re working so hard at a diet and then, suddenly, you get a craving for something not-so-healthy. Just one piece of chocolate, just once slice of pizza, something to fill that burn! I have often found myself being strong and saying no – and then thinking about it for days on end because the cravings naturally just get worse. It’s at that point that I say “ok, diets over!” and go crazy!
The best piece of diet advice I have ever gotten was about giving into those cravings. Or how to do so, I should say. You want chocolate every once in a while? Have a bite of chocolate. But just a bite, to fill the craving. Then go back to being strong. If you let it nag at you for too long you will find yourself binging and not being able to pull yourself together afterwards. Little treats are well deserved for being a good dieter, but it is all about portion control and knowing when you have reached your limit.

I am inspired by your strength and love your blog!
    Keep up the good work!
