Cookie Dough Buns
Ingredients
Filling:
- 1 cup oil
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1 9 oz bag mini choc chips
Dough:
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant fry yeast
- 1/2 cup sugar, divided
- 1/4 cup lukewarm water
- 3/4 cup milk or parve milk
- 1/3 cup oil
- 1 egg
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 4 cups flour
Chocolate Glaze:
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoon milk or parve milk
Instructions
1. Assemble filling: combine all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl. Mix to form a loose dough. Set aside.
2. Prepare the dough: add yeast, one tablespoon of the sugar and warm water into bowl of a mixer. Let stand for 5-10 minutes, to activate the yeast.
3. Add remaining ingredients and mix to form a cohesive dough. Continue to knead for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
4. Set dough aside to rise for about 2 hours, until doubled in bulk.
5. Preheat oven to 350. Grease two 9x13 pans; set aside.
6. Roll out half of the dough to a large rectangular shape. Spread half of the cookie dough filling over the surface, creating a thin layer.
7. Roll up the dough into a log, then cut into 12 even slices. Place cut side up into one of the prepared baking pans. Repeat with remaining dough and filling.
8. Allow buns to rise for an additional 30 minutes.
9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown.
10. Prepare glaze: mix all ingredients in a small bow until combined.
11, Just before serving, drizzle chocolate glaze over the buns. For best results, serve warm!
Notes
Plan ahead: cookie dough buns can be frozen, well wrapped. Rewarm loosely covered before serving.

This recipe came out as yummy as it looked. The bun dough and the cookie dough both had great consistencies and rolled perfectly and cut into buns really nicely. The only thing was the cookie dough was a little oily from sitting while the bun dough rose. I really liked this recipe and would definitely make it again.
