Grilled Chicken Harvest Salad is a meal in a bowl that's fresh, healthy and delicious! Today I want to share an incredibly delicious salad recipe with you, but first, I want to introduce you to an incredible new cookbook, Perfect Flavors. Spaghetti Cheese and Spinach Pie

July 23, 2012 by overtimecook 16 Comments

You know how they say that you don't fully appreciate what you have until you don't have it anymore? Well I eat chicken for supper pretty much every night of my life, and I only really think about it once a year, during the nine days. (For my non Jewish readers, we are currently in a time period called The Nine Days (of mourning) in which many observant Jews traditionally don't eat meat or chicken, among other restrictions.) For most people, this isn't a huge deal. They pull out the fish dishes and eat those for a week. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I despise fish. Seriously, can't touch it, can't serve it, can't even smell it. Dairy? Well sure, I love pasta as much as … [Read more...]

***Before we start – have you signed up for my email newsletters? You’ll get new recipes, cooking tips, menu suggestions, kitchen deals  – and more! Click here to signup.*** This salad has a long history. Very long. It started about three (maybe four?) years ago when I ate dinner with an excellent cook named Batya. She made a salad with some roasted vegetables and chickpeas, and I absolutely loved it. I went home and copied it, and served it to my sister. My sister loved it, and made it again, for me, when I visited her. Then I forgot about this salad, and I thought my sister did too. Fast forward a couple of years, when I spent the weekend at my sister's house. As I have mentioned … [Read more...]

Healthy Recipe Roundup

April 9, 2018 by overtimecook 2 Comments

The Ultimate Healthy Recipe Roundup to help with your weight loss and health resolutions! Is there a time of the year, more than these post-pesach days, when people are more focused on eating healthy and paying more attention to their diets? No, I don't think so either. Aside from any over-indulgences we may have enjoyed over the holiday, I think there's also a "fresh start" aspect. Before passover, we clean all the food out of our kitchens. Over the holiday, we buy our pesach food. Then when pesach is over and real life starts again, we need to restock. And now, the choice is ours. Do we stuff our pantries with crackers and cookies and all kinds of junk? Or do we load our shelves up … [Read more...]

Like on the side: some links I love, some kitchen deals, and a review of the new cookbook The Big Flavor Grill! Hey friends. I'm trying something a little different here today.
