Like on the side: some links I love, some kitchen deals, and a review of the new cookbook The Big Flavor Grill! Hey friends. I'm trying something a little different here today. I'd love to say it's going to be a weekly series, but knowing me and how busy I get sometimes, I am not going to make any commitments. However, now that I've got a super talented assistant (I'm going to introduce her next week!), I am going to try to share more than just recipes. We'll aim for most fridays...let's see how that works out! Some weeks I'll share great kitchen deals, sometimes it's going to be cookbook reviews (maybe a few giveaways?), sometimes I will share roundups of great recipes and sometimes you … [Read more...]

9 Meatless Meal Ideas
If you're an observant Jew, you are probably very well aware that "the 9 days" are coming. For those who aren't familiar, the 9 days of mourning are a period of time in the summer when Jews mourn the destruction of the temple in various ways - one of which is not eating meat. So whether you are a Jew looking for "9 days" ideas, or you're simply looking to cut down on your meat consumption, … [Read more...]

And since then, I have been dieting hard, more motivated than ever to shed a couple … [Read more...]

I love basil. If you've been reading this blog for a while, this shouldn't be news to you. I have posted quite a few recipes that use basil in them. My friend even guest posted a recipe with lots of basil in it. And there are so many more times that I reach for the basil, whether dried, frozen of fresh, and somehow these recipes don't all make it to the blog. Obviously, homemade basil pesto is pretty much the epitome of a basil lover's favorite foods. I know that people get all adventurous with pesto, they use arugula, kale and other greens. And they experiment with walnuts, pistachio nuts and various other nuts. But I am a purist. A basil pesto lover. And while I knowthat the … [Read more...]
