I’ve been waiting for this day for so long….when I could finally reveal to you something major that I’ve been working on. And at long last, that day has arrived….so, here goes.
Are you ready for this? I know I am!
The big announcement is…..I’m working on cookbook number 2!
Whew. I’m so glad that isn’t a secret anymore. I’ve been holding that one in for a while. Ready for some details?
I’ve been getting this request for a loooooong time now….”when are you coming out with a real food cookbook?” And the answer, I can finally say, is November 2017. Yep, just in time for this coming chanukah!
While I couldn’t tell you guys until now, I’ve actually been working on this cookbook since just after Something Sweet came out. As soon as I announced that I was writing a dessert cookbook, the requests came flooding in. “What about real food?” Well, let me just say that I’ve spent that last year and a half pouring my heart and soul into making sure that all of you will be really happy with the “real food” in my upcoming cookbook!
Looking for easy weeknight supper ideas? I’ve got them for you! Something special to serve at a holiday meal? You bet. An easy side dish using ingredients you have on hand? Totally. Healthy breakfast to grab on your way out of the house? I totally have that too. An exciting new salad recipe to make when guests come? Oh, I’ve got a whole bunch. Something easy and delicious to make for dessert? You know I got you covered there too. (Wait. You didn’t think that I would write a cookbook without ANY desserts, did you?!)
Basically, I’ve worked so hard to try and cover all of your bases, and really make this book one that you’ll turn to on a daily basis. While there are a few special occasion recipes that are a little more involved, overall, these recipes are really easy, really doable, and don’t require weird or uncommon ingredients! And if you loved how Something Sweet has really clear and easy to follow instructions, you can certainly expect that of my second cookbook too.
Because I’m sure you’re wondering about this, my upcoming cookbook will contain a few favorites from the blog (feel free to comment below if there’s any that you MUST have in there!) but mostly, it’ll be brand new recipes. Recipes that you will love. I know this, because I love them….
Like I said, the book will be out in time for chanukah, so start getting excited! I don’t have a name for my book yet (yiiiiikes), but if you have an idea of one – I am totally open to suggestions! (Email me overtime cook at gmail.) One thing I will NOT call this book is Something Savory – so please don’t suggest that…. 😀 As with my first cookbook, I will be needing some testers, so stay tuned for info on that.
If you want some sneak peeks and behind the scenes glimpses, make sure to follow @overtimecook on Instagram, where I’ll be sharing all of that. I’m starting to take pictures (obviously I’m photographing the book too!) shortly after shavuos, so stay tuned for glimpses of that too!
Overall, I am just SO excited for you guys to finally see and hold my book, try out the recipes I’m working so hard to create for you, and most importantly, to enjoy my food.
Thanks, as always, for following along with me on this crazy ride! – Miriam

IMHO, your best real food recipes are:
mushroom chicken
orzo salads (roasted summer veg and the pomagranate squash one)
quinoa/brown rice salad w broccoli and red pepper
easy honey ginger sugar snap peas
But by all means, leave them out of the cookbook and make it full of new surprises! I’ll be excited for it. 🙂
