The Side Dish: Something Sweet Update, Reviews and Events

October 23, 2015 by overtimecook 2 Comments

Well. This is kind of ridiculous, isn't it? When I wrote my first "Side Dish" post, I knew it wasn't realistic to expect a weekly series (I'm just not reliable enough, and have too much to do!) but I hoped it would be monthly. Bi-monthly maybe? But here we are. It's been over a year and I'm finally posting my second installment in "The Side Dish" series, but I do have an excuse. Although I didn't announce it here until much later, it was about the time that I wrote that post that I started writing my cookbook. Yeah, it was crazy hard keeping a secret that good for that long, but it's all been worth it, don'tcha think? Buy Something Sweet on Amazon |ArtScroll Well, it's all come full … [Read more...]

You’re Invited To…A Something Sweet Launch Party!

August 25, 2015 by overtimecook 10 Comments

It all started a few months ago, when I announced my cookbook. A couple of fans on facebook suggested, half jokingly, that I should have a launch party and offer samples of my recipes to all of my readers. At the time, I laughed it off as an impossibility. I can't possibly make samples for all of my readers! But then, I couldn't let go of the idea, and a top Kosher grocery store here in New York stepped in and offered to host the party, so here we are. It's not in my home, and I am not personally making every sample, but this is finally a way for me to meet all of my fans, give you all some treats, and demo a few of my favorite recipes for you! So... Don't know about Breadberry … [Read more...]

Happy Fourth Birthday to Overtime Cook and a Big Giveaway!

August 7, 2015 by overtimecook 709 Comments

It all started four years ago today. August 7th, 2011 was the day I published my first post here on Overtime Cook.I've written previously about how my blog got started. In short, I was bored (at least creatively) and needed a hobby. So I purchased the domain name overtimecook.com and posted my first recipe. Behold: Peanut Butter Truffle Stuffed Oreos. Not too bad for an iphone photo and a gal with zero experience! What started that day has become so much more than a hobby. It's become a life-changing passion. So much has happened in the last four years. Millions (literally!) of readers, a magazine column, a thriving food photography business, and lots of new friends. And now, of … [Read more...]

Plus, I am finally going to reveal the name - you'll have to scroll down for that! So first, let's talk about the recipes. In case any of you missed it the first hundred times I mentioned it, this cookbook is going to have desserts, baked goods, sweet things, etc. My biggest focus, while working on the book and developing the recipes for it, is to have sweets for every occasion. It's a pretty daunting undertaking  - "every" occasion, but I am really trying hard.
