These Sweet and Spicy Maple Roasted Pecans have just the right blend of flavors to keep you coming back for more!

Can we talk about addictive foods? Some foods, like chocolate, are always high up there on my “I need that” list. Ice cream is on that list too. Cookies also.

But when you think of foods that make it really hard for you to stop after one or two, what do you think of? Many of us think of chips. Potato chips, corn chips…mmm. Definitely don’t like to stop after just one of those! But for me, the most addictive – and I mean don’t-stop-till-they-are-gone addictive food is nuts. And more specifically, pecans.

And even more specifically, these sweet and spicy maple roasted pecans.

I don’t even know where to start describing their awesomeness. The combination of spices and sweetness from the maple syrup forms a magical flavor that you won’t be able to stop eating. Which makes these pecans a great gift – you’ll need to get rid of them. Or eat them. Trust me.

Sweet and Spicy Maple Roasted Pecans:

Originally published in my column in Ami Magazine

Ingredients:

2 cups pecans

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon kosher salt

Pinch ginger

Pinch cayenne pepper

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

In a small bowl, combine all ingredients and stir to coat the nuts evenly. Spread nuts in an individual layer on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 12 minutes, stirring after every 5 minutes. Remove from oven and set aside to cool completely before eating. Nuts will be soft when they come out of the oven, but they will harden as they cool. Do not over bake—pecans will burn quickly! Store in an airtight container for about a week.

Enjoy!

Preheat oven to 350….I am assuming degrees Fahrenheit and not Celsius (sorry I am a European living in Canada where they use the two systems interchangeably…). I am going to go with 300 degrees F which equates to 180 degrees C). So many of the recipes don’t specify which system they are working with.
