Asian Sesame Beef Noodles
Ingredients
- 2 lb ground beef
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- Oil for frying
Vegetables:
- 2 Tablespoon oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3 garlic cubes
- 3 ginger cubes
- 24 oz frozen broccoli florets, defrosted and chopped
Sauce:
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup duck sauce
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 Tablespoons honey
- 2 Tablespoons sesame oil
Assembly and Garnish:
- 1 lb noodles such as udon, cooked according to package directions
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large, deep frying pan over high heat. Season beef generously with salt, then sear for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned. Reduce heat to low and chop the meat into small pieces; set aside.
- Add oil to frying pan. Add onion and salt; cook on medium-high heat for five minutes, until softened.
- Add garlic, ginger and broccoli. Continue to cook for about 10 minutes, until broccoli is cooked through.
- Meanwhile, stir together all sauce ingredients. Pour sauce into pan. Add reserved meat and noodles. Cook, stirring often, until everything is evenly coated. If desired, garnish with sesame seeds prior to serving.
Notes
Plan ahead: this dish is best enjoyed fresh, but it can be prepared 1-2 days ahead of time and rewarded, loosely covered, until warmed through.
