This S'mores Frappe is a delicious and refreshing drink that's better and cheaper than the coffee shops! Have a question about one of my recipes? The best place to get answers is the Overtime Cook Recipes Facebook Group Just last night, I was talking to my friend about a problem I have. While I enjoy going out to eat and trying new restaurants (if you're following me on Instagram you already know that!), there are certain categories of foods and drinks that I really can't order. The reason? I make it so much better myself. For example, paninis. I make delicious paninis myself, they're super quick and easy to make, and to be honest? Many restaurants just don't do a great job of … [Read more...]

Indulge yourself without too many calories or spending too much money with this Skinny Iced Vanilla Latte! Why, you might be wondering, am I posting a summery-looking, iced drink - NOW - just as the heaters are coming on, the sweatshirts are coming out of the closet, and the days are getting shorter and colder. Well, let me assure you, I have a very good reason. Well, maybe it's not very good, but I do have a reason. I love cold drinks. Summer, spring, winter, fall. Homemade Mango Lemonade
Homemade Mango Lemonade is simple to make and is bursting with seasonal flavors. I'm sorry folks, but I'm just not ready to accept that summer is nearing an end. It's hard to ignore the signs, but I'm trying my best. Pinterest is no longer filled with juicy berries and heirloom tomatoes. Family barbecues are getting less frequent, and the weather is getting cooler. But it's still august, and I'll post a summer recipe if I want to. The pumpkins can wait. So can the apples, the fall spices, the warm fall flavors. Today we can have a tall glass of homemade lemonade, served over ice. Hold on to summer, it's fleeting, but it's still here. This Homemade Mango Lemonade couldn't be simpler. … [Read more...]

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you know that I'm in the middle of week 4 of my new diet. It's been great so far, and I am definitely adjusting to the whole "eat healthier" thing, but everyone needs a treat now and then, right? Well, my diet might be structured, but I had to come up with a way to treat myself within my diet plan. So I came up with this drink. You know the one you spend $5.95 on at a cafe or restaurant? Strawberry Limeade Slushies
Who's sick of hearing about Passover food yet? Bad news friends. Passover isn't for another WEEK and then it goes on for a full week. So there's gonna be a bunch more Passover talk around here. So lets talk about what I miss during Passover. You'd think it would be nice hot bread, freshly made toast, maybe some gooey pizza or some saucy pasta. Or maybe a bag of crunchy pretzels. But I'm weird like this. And the things I miss most over Passover aren't the specifically non-kosher-for-Passover foods like those mentioned above. What I miss (especially considering my family's stricter customs) are some of the little conveniences. Things like soda (nope, we don't drink that on Passover). Things … [Read more...]
Homemade Strawberry Lemonade
You know how they say that some of the world's best discoveries have come about through accidents? Well, I wouldn't quite equate this with turning moldy bread into penicillin, but it was a pretty lucky- and awesome- discovery. It started on a day like today, when it felt like it was a million degrees outside, but in actuality, it was only about a hundred. Either way, it was the kind of day that makes you want a tall glass filled with ice- and some refreshing drink poured over it. I walked into the house, grabbed a glass, and discovered that there was no ice in the freezer. Oh, the horror. After searching the freezer and determining that there were, indeed, no ice cubes, I started to look … [Read more...]
Homemade Iced Mochaccino
Coffee is a very serious and important part of my life. Let me explain. I like to say I am not a caffeine addict. And honestly, I believe that I am not. Sure, I have three cups of coffee every weekday morning, and I am grumpy like you-don't-want-to-see if I don't get my coffee. (And unproductive, but my manager reads this blog on occasion, so we aren't going to talk about that at all.) Suffice it to say, I start my day off with coffee. Piping hot in the winter, and even the fall (I'll have to remember to post that when (if?) the weather gets cold again. When the weather gets hot, and scalding hot drinks aren't quite as desirable, I bring a huge cup of ice into work with me, and make my … [Read more...]
