Lightened Up Cappuccino Cheese Muffins are a great treat for people watching their weight! I know, I know. The last couple of weeks of this blog have been filled with one decadent treat after another. Each one has been a diet killer in its own right. "So what about the dieters?", you ask. "What's a poor soul to do if s/he isn't eating cheesecake, ice cream trifle, cheesecake mousse, delicious cookies, and all those other treats? Good news friend's. I feel for you. No really, I might be cooking, baking and photographing all sorts of fattening treats, but I've been dieting hard. Really hard. Like, one bite to make sure the cheesecake is good. We're in this together. And that's why I made you … [Read more...]
Chocolate and Caramel Ice Cream Parfait
Chocolate and Caramel Ice Cream Parfaits are the perfect summer dessert! As good as they look...they taste better! Raise your hand if you're bored of cheesecake discussion? Nooo! I don't know if we can be friends if you ever get bored of cheesecake! Sorry folks, that was a trick question. When my good friends at Kleins Ice Cream asked me to come up with a great recipe showcasing their delicious products, I immediately thought of an ice cream parfait. You might remember the Fried Ice Cream recipe that I created for Kleins around Chanukah time. That recipe was awesome, but it had to be fried and eaten within seconds of eachother. Well guys, this recipe is the exact opposite. You can prepare … [Read more...]
No-Bake Coffee Cheesecake Mousse Trifles
Coffee Cheesecake Mousse Trifles are a delicious and no-bake dessert that looks beautiful and comes together in minutes. Y'know what's super hard? Being on a diet. Y'know what's harder? Being on a diet and making delicious dairy treats for shavuos that you can't eat. But you know what's even harder than that? Being on a diet, making delicious treats, and tasting just one bite to make sure it's amazing enough for your magazine column...but stopping there. Taking one bite and no more is seriously the biggest test to a dieter's willpower in the history of dieting. Especially when you're making treats as exciting, delightful and enticing as the ones I'll be sharing in my magazine column (in … [Read more...]
Lemon Sticky Buns
A bright and fresh twist on a classic favorite, Lemon Sticky Buns are the perfect treat for breakfast or dessert. Whew. We made it. We're safely on the other side of Passover. Another year, another week of meat, chicken, eggs and potatoes. Admittedly, I'm ready to buckle down on the diet and kinda avoid desserts right now, so if you're with me there, you might not want to keep reading. Seriously. When I think of the ultimate non-passover dessert, it's gotta have yeast in it. Pesach is a time of no yeast, right? So real proper chometz has gotta be a fluffy, yeasty delight. Now, you might remember that Cinnamon Buns are my all-time favorite, ultimate weakness. Doesn't matter what diet I'm … [Read more...]
Passover Mocha Crepe Cake {Gluten Free}
Mocha Crepe Cake is the most elegant and delicious Passover dessert - you'll never believe it's gluten free! I feel like we need to talk for a couple of minutes about how much I've always hated Passover desserts. Maybe it's the lack of ingredients. Maybe it's the lack of equipment. Maybe it's just the lack of time. Or maybe I really need to step out of my comfort zone more. But what can I say. I prefer my cookies and cakes with flour. If it were up to me, I wouldn't make up new Passover dessert recipes. But I write for a magazine, and when you have a steady recipe column, you don't get to pick and choose the holidays that you like more. So every year I grit my teeth and work on recipes … [Read more...]
Flourless Carrot Walnut Cloud Cookies
Flourless Carrot Walnut Cloud Cookies are soft, chewy, spicy and perfect for Passover - or year round! I have to admit, I'm posting all these passover recipes, but in my head...I'm in denial. I don't like cooking for passover. I don't like baking for passover. Pesach desserts are seriously not my thing. I always felt like there are only so many ways you can combine the few basic ingredients to form a new passover dessert. Then I came up with these cookies. Carrot cookies are totally different than the usual pesach treats. The texture is light and airy, the flavor is delightful...These are the cookies that made me rethink my hatred of passover cookies! If you're planning your menu for … [Read more...]
Peanut Butter Caramel Truffles
Peanut Butter Caramel Truffles are a little taste of heaven! Every now and then, I make something that's so delightful, words fail to describe it. These truffles are a perfect example. I originally made these truffles for a Tzedaka (charity) party. I probably dreamed up this crazy combination at the height of a chocolate craving, but whatever made me do it, they were a smashing success. Just as the party was starting, before much food was even touched, these truffles were gone. That's right, completely gone. All the poor souls who hadn't gotten there fast enough to try one were pretty sad. Needless to day, I needed to share this recipe with you folks. They're a little time consuming to … [Read more...]
Red Wine Chocolate Cupcakes with Red Wine Glaze
The classic pairing of red wine and chocolate combine to form these decadent Red Wine Chocolate Cupcakes. I feel like I should start with a warning here. This blog is going to get a little dessert heavy in the coming weeks as we lead up to Purim. Too late, you say? I know, I know. I've been posting a lot of purim goodies lately, and I've got more of them up my sleeve! Starting today, with these crazy awesome cupcakes. We all know that drinking on purim is a tradition - wait, a mitzvah - so that makes these cupcakes downright righteous. If you're making these for kids, opt for a non-alcoholic glaze (like this insanely delightful chocolate glaze). Don't worry about the alcohol in the … [Read more...]
Pecan Pie Hamantashen
Pecan Pie Hamantashen are a perfectly delicious twist on the traditional favorite. Don't hate me people, but we're kinda going into Purim mode here. I know. I know. I don't want to face it either. Mostly because Passover is a month after Purim, and I really don't want to face that. But what can you do? It's all around us! Seriously, the purim mania seems to start earlier and earlier every year! I've been busy lately creating some amazing recipes for my column in Ami magazine, but today, I am sharing one of my favorites from last year's column: Pecan Pie Hamantashen! If you're one of those people who appreciates tradition, but doesn't actually love hamantaschen, this recipe is for you. … [Read more...]
Chocolate Crepes with Strawberry Filling
Chocolate Crepes with strawberry filling, topped with ice cream, make a perfect special-occasion dessert! Wow. It's been a while since I last posted a recipe here, huh? Good thing it was a good one, amIright? Well today's recipe is an awesome one too. It's one that I developed because I totally listen to your recipe requests. One request I had gotten all the time is "please post cookie recipes that are made with oil!" (As opposed to margarine or butter.) So I did. Another request I get all the time: to post recipes for a beautiful dessert, perfect for special occasions. Well, it don't get more beautiful, more perfect for special occasions than these delightful Chocolate Crepes. … [Read more...]
