Brownie Bites with Peanut Butter Frosting

January 22, 2013 by overtimecook 51 Comments

Brownie Bites with Peanut Butter Frosting are a chocolate peanut butter lover's dream come true!  I recently came to an awful realization. I've been a horribly neglectful blogger. I am sorry. Really, I am. But this blog is almost a year and a half old, and to date, I only have one brownie recipe posted. Two, if you count my brownie pies. But clearly that isn't enough. I mean, is there even such a thing as "enough" brownies? I don't think so either.  I realized this as I was going to sleep late on Saturday night. (And if you stalk my Instagram feed, you know that was about a million o'clock, when most of you were probably near waking up.) Anyway, I rectified the situation less … [Read more...]

December 4, 2012 by overtimecook 12 Comments

People who know me are super lucky when it comes to buying gifts. I have such specific hobbies that if you want to buy me something, all it takes is a kitchen gadget or a photography "toy" and I am happy. I figured that some of you might be looking for gift ideas for kitchen loving folks in your life, so I put together a list. Most of these items are things I have and love, others are items that I want really badly. (This may or may not be a hint to people in my life. Ahem. Readers, I invite you to forward this link on to people in your life who might otherwise buy you a useless or unwanted gift. Hints are nice, right? Let's start with a big one, in case anyone wants to buy something … [Read more...]

Primary Colored Dessert Table for Charity Event

November 27, 2012 by overtimecook 17 Comments

On Saturday night, my amazing sister-in-law hosted a charity party for an amazing organization called Rofeh Cholim Cancer Society, or RCCS. They are an incredible organization that provides an array of services for families in my community that are dealing with cancer, including financial support, emotional support, insurance subsidies and advocacy, tuition grants, and a lot more. For those who don't know, they are currently holding a huge fundraising Chinese Auction, with local showings hosted by women in the community. My sister-in-law is awesome that way, so she hosted a showing of the auction in her neighborhood. Naturally, I stepped in to bake. I figured I would show y'all what I made, … [Read more...]

Sukkos Recipe Roundup

September 24, 2012 by overtimecook 4 Comments

Here's what I was supposed to do yesterday. I was supposed to photograph this amazing appetizer recipe and post it for you folks. But then I got home from work at 7:30. You read that right. Work. On a Sunday. I don't recommend it. I got cooking right away, and at 2 in the morning I was wise enough to realize that posting the recipe at that point would have been a really bad idea. So I went to sleep for like, four whole hours. Anyhoo. Here's a handy dandy list of stuff you should totally be making for Sukkot. They are a sampling of recipes from the archives, so feel free to dig around for even more! New recipes are a'comin, I promise. Wait, I don't. I have so much left to do! But I really do … [Read more...]

Anyone reading this who's been a reader for any length of time will know that I love to bake, and more specifically, to experiment and have fun with all kinds of fun recipes. From recent recipes like S'mores Cheesecake and Zebra Bundt Cake, to older but still fun recipes like  Pretzel Coated Chocolate Cookies and Cream Cheese Swirled Chocolate Fudge Cake, I try to share fun and unique recipes with you folks. But sometimes I like to share some more basic recipes. Things like Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies and Blueberry Muffins may not be unique or different, but I definitely think they are recipes worth sharing. Chocolate Cupcakes and a First Blogiversary Giveaway

August 7, 2012 by overtimecook 127 Comments

Giveaway Closed!  See here for the winner   I've been thinking about today a lot, but I can't believe it actually came. It was one year ago that I published my first ever recipe. I know that most bloggers follow up on that statement with "I am so embarrassed of that post" or "I can't believe how far I have come since then!" or "it was totally on a whim that I started my blog!" But I am not going to say any of that. Sure, I think I have come pretty far since I wrote and photographed that recipe, but I am proud of that post, just as I am proud of every post I have up on this blog. This blog wasn't started on a whim, it was the result of weeks of planning … [Read more...]

Spinach and Chickpea Veggie Burgers

June 10, 2012 by overtimecook 13 Comments

If you have been reading this blog for a while, you will know that I adore making desserts of every kind. Cakes? Cookies? Cupcakes? Check, check and check. Want to make candy? We've got you covered there too. (Teaser: stay tuned for another candy recipe coming up soon!) And of course, my chocolate category is kinda overloaded. And I know that people love my dessert treats, so I keep baking them. But I get such overwhelmingly positive feedback on real food recipes, that I can't neglect that aspect of this blog either. Remember how I made these awesome veggie burgers a while ago? Well so many people told me how they loved them, so I knew I had to make some more veggie burgers. Ever had … [Read more...]

Blueberry Cupcakes with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

June 4, 2012 by overtimecook 16 Comments

I'd like ramble about two things today. I hope you will bear with me, as these ramblings end in...cupcakes. Do I have your attention? Awesome, let's start. With blueberries. Is there anything that really screams out "summer" like sitting down to snack on (read: completely devour) a bowl of juicy blueberries? I don't think so either. I tried to cheat the system a couple of months back, and bought myself a package of blueberries. Many dollars later, I discovered the disappointing truth: for the real goodness of juicy, summery, deliciously plump blueberries, you gotta wait for the summer. Here's my second rambling. (Patience my friend, we're getting closer.) Where's the line between a … [Read more...]

Passover Recipe Roundup

March 28, 2012 by overtimecook 2 Comments

I think I am (shockingly) done posting non-Passover recipes until after the Holiday. I can't imagine going so long without baking (and I know I will be baking Passover goodies, but it isn't the same!) but I will get over it. Somehow. I hope y'all are cool with some real food, because there might be a higher than usual percentage of that stuff in the next few weeks. I haven't gotten to actual Passover cooking yet, but I thought we'd kick things off with a list of recipes that I've posted on this blog that are either okay for Passover or can be easily adapted. I know every family has different traditions and customs about which extra restrictions they follow regarding Passover food and … [Read more...]
