Quick and Easy Fried Rice
Quick and Easy Fried Rice is a yummy side dish that takes just minutes to make! Excuse me for a minute while I go all nostalgic on you here, but I grew up with this dish, so it's really exciting to share Daddy's Quick and Easy Fried Rice and Eggs with you all. My father made it all the time when I was growing up - and it's no wonder! If you have leftover rice (or you can make extra rice when making some for a different dish) you can transform it into a yummy side dish. My father used to do it as a real spur-of-the-moment thing. "Oh look - leftover rice from supper? Let's make lunch for tomorrow!" With just a few minutes of prep and simple ingredients, this is bound to become your … [Read more...]
Roasted Sesame Broccoli
Roasted Sesame Broccoli is a quick, easy, and tasty side dish! The way I've always cooked for holidays like Sukkot is to prepare all of the freezer-friendly dishes well in advance, then last minute, I prepare some veggie sides, which don't freeze well. If you're looking for quick and easy veggie sides to add to your Sukkos menus, I've got just the thing for you: Roasted Sesame Broccoli. When I originally made this dish, I set out to make my Honey Glazed Garlic and Ginger Sugar Snaps. I know, it's quite a stretch to get from there to Roasted Sesame Broccoli, but let me tell you how that happened. My sister asked me to make a vegetable side dish for Rosh Hashanah (I was her guest). I … [Read more...]
Fried Cabbage Wontons
Fried Cabbage Wontons: crunchy on the outside, a savory cabbage filling, and a delicious honey-soy dipping sauce! I first made these a couple of years ago. I don't remember exactly how long it's been, but it was long enough that when I was at my sister's house for Rosh Hashanah, she pulled out a plate of cabbage wontons and mentioned it was my recipe. I was like, what? Then I remembered this delicious appetizer, and knew I had to share it with you guys! Also, my sister said she didn't think I'd mention her if something she served me over the holiday would inspire a post on my blog. Well it did, and here I am. You can all say hi to my sister - who's an excellent hostess but happened to … [Read more...]
Grilled Corn and Pastrami Salad
Grilled Corn and Pastrami Salad has an amazing smoky flavor, bringing together all of the best things about summer food! I'm feeling deja vu here. I know, this recipe is brand new, but I really dreamed it up a while ago. In fact, this salad was the original inspiration for this grilled chicken and corn salad. The recipes both started to run together in my head, what with the whole grilled corn (yum!) thing going on, and it's kinda confusing. Especially because my head is pretty confusing as it is, with multiple cookie recipes being formulated at any given point too. But despite the similarities between the recipes, I decided to just go for it and share this one. Mostly because...um, … [Read more...]
