I originally published this ridiculously easy yet impressive and beautiful brownie bar strudel recipe a bit over a year ago, in my column for Mishpacha magazine. It immediately went absolutely viral! Over the last year since then, I get weekly, sometimes daily requests to share the recipe on my blog. I'm not sure what took me so long, but here, at long last, you go! Enjoy!   Note that the original recipe had an error that left out the sugar quantity in the fudge filling, but I've added it in the printable recipe below. … [Read more...]

Warning: this easy appetizer looks so fancy, people will think you spent all day on it! At a yom tov meal where I’ll be serving meat as the main, I like to serve a chicken appetizer for something a bit lighter - that’s why pulled chicken (especially with my fantastic shortcut!) has become one of my go-to apps for yom tov meals. This one is elegant, plus it hits all the right notes of crunchy, sweet, tangy, spicy and more!   Did you know that I share cooking demos, menu plans, giveaways, and lots more exclusive content on … [Read more...]

I know I was - that's why I came up with this fun and different idea! Its common knowledge that kids love their food on sticks, but don’t think of this as kid food! These super fun appetizers with the punched up flavor from the pastrami are a hit with the grownups as well! If you’re like me and you leave a flame on for Yom Tov, try frying these fresh for something different and so, so good.    Looking for a traditional corndog recipe? Feel free to skip the pastrami and … [Read more...]

Do you receive the Overtime Cook email newsletter? It’s full of recipes, kitchen tips, menus and more! Click here to sign up. P.S – it’s completely free! This is such an old recipe of mine, and still a favorite! I originally published these in my magazine column back in 2012 (yeah, I'm very old!). They were a hit back then, and I decided it's time to give them the spotlight again.  The base of this recipe is a delicious, coffee flavored cookie cup. The whipped cream topping is the icing on the not-so-proverbial cake. It takes these from "yummy cookie" to "wow these look AND taste great!" If you want to keep it simpler, you can skip the topping.    Did you know that … [Read more...]

This soup may look beautiful, but it’s total comfort food in the bowl. The warm flavors of root vegetables, the sweet flavor of apple, and the richness of the marrow bones combine to make a dish that’s bound to become a family favorite.
